The floating dial has a glass surface that protects the face. The metal dial has a brushed-brass finish with contemporary black line markers. The straight black hour and minute hands are easy to read. The battery compartment in the back has a gold-tone cover that gives the back of the clock a finished look by concealing the battery area. The accurate quartz movement requires 1 "AA" battery.
