The ascending volume electronic beep alarm starts out very quiet and increases in intensity every 5 seconds until after 30 seconds it is beeping at a higher rate. The light / snooze button is located on the top of the clock and will turn the alarm off for about 5 minutes. The alarm on - off switch is on the back.
