Ansonia Clocks Has Ceased Production

Ansonia Clocks were one of the major 19th century American clock manufacturers. It produced millions of clocks in the period between 1850 and 1929. Ansonia went into receivership in 1929 and sold its remaining assets to Russia. In 1969, the rights to the use of the name, trade marks were transferred to the new Ansonia Clock Co., Inc. in Lynnwood, Washington where they manufactured clocks up until about 2005.

In the new factory in Washington, Handmade Ansonia quality clocks were solid wood cases of Cherry with an arched tops of heavy cherry moldings. Faceted front glass with a mirrored backs created the famous Ansonia look. Beveled glass fronts and sides are hand soldered. Gold Medallion 8 day Keywound German Chiming movement with Triple chimes which were made by Hermle in Germany. Westminster, Whittington and St. Michael 4/4 quarter hour chimes and swinging polished brass pendulum. Chime Silence Levers and Beveled glass in precision hand-fitted and soldered brass fretwork.

They also built some smaller, space saving solid cherry traditional cabinets with Chiming Westminster and Bim-Bam German Quartz movement with 1/4 hour chimes and / or hourly strike. Programmable Night time chime shutoff or reduction and chime Volume control. Roman numeral dial with filigree hands and swinging pendulum.

We have no information on the older Ansonia clocks as we never carried the older clocks or had any experience with them.
